Burgundy 2000-2010
Burgundy, like many other old world regions, struggled in the 90’s with the unexpected rise of Napa Cabs and Robert Parker’s 100 point scale. But Burgundy came in hot in 2000 and 2001, delivering wines with striking nuance and the structure to evolve beautifully over time. Burgundy hit a peak in 2002 with one of the most standout vinategs of the 2000’s, a triumphant exploration into delicate whites and reds that have become cellar cornerstones. But Burgundy didnt burn out there. The 2005 vintage brought power and concentration, creating age-worthy wines with shocking intensity and backbone. In contrast, 2009 delivered generosity and charm, with an expressive fruitiness that made the wines immediately captivating while still rewarding patience. The early 2000’s were a classic comeback story for the collector staple.
